Let Us Fly Like the Eagle

See the eagle soaring through the sky
Its majestic wings
Its observing eyes ever watchful
The symbol of freedom

Lord, help us be like the eagle
Let our spirits come seeking You
Pour out the deepest rivers of our pain to You
Hear you as you speak to our longing hearts

Give us a freedom of action
A resolved sense of purpose to do what is honorable and true
True to the fight we all wage against hatred, indifference, greed and a growing
numbness to seeing images of poverty, of the death of innocent souls in Syria

Help us, oh God, in this ever-darkening world to fly like the eagle
Let us unite ourselves in speaking out against injustice wherever we see it
Fight wrong wherever it be found

Let us not think the problems of our world are inurmountable so why bother?
That is the lie that we can be deluded to believe

Look at the lives of Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela
Each one left this world a little kinder, a little more just for their presence

All of us are not called to be world changers
But let us think and believe we can be like the eagle
that through a freedom, a belief in the spirit at work in us, that we can be a more loving people

Lift up a troubled soul
Give a meal and your heart to a homeless person
Offer a coffee and practice the power of presence to the walking wounded
Offer the cup of cold water in His Name to thirsting souls
who need to be loved
who need to be undetrstood
who need to be heard

Help us all, oh God, to be the eagles, the ambassadors of hope, that bring a message of light to our communities and our world.

About osborne2029

I enjoy spending time with people just having a coffee or talking about life, philosophy, religion, politics or sharing a favorite joke or story. We learn from one another as we interact and share our joys, challenges and even our times of sadness. I enjoy reading, writing, singing and sharing in the blessing of community whether that is one on one or in groups. I'm married and am powned by two kitties named Sir William of Lounge a.k.a. Sir Lounge a Lot and Princess Catherine of Chaos a.k.a. Her Royal Highness Catherine of Englehart. I m in an M.A.-Ph.D program with St. James the Elder Theological Seminary to train to become a psychotherapist and priest. Let us pray for and reach out to each other with kindness, love and an embracing compassion. We can working together be servants with two open hands to those in need so that hate, indifference and inequality would lose and love will win. The peace and abounding joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

  1. There is no better freedom than surrendering to God. Great post! 😀

    • Wonderfully done! The human loves what you wrote ….and so do I. I’m always sitting on the humans lap when she prays, so I know Jesus too. Thanks fur posting.

Purrs and tunas to you! (or coffee, or tea, our whatever, dude).

The humans son in law started a blog yesterday. It was reblogged on my blog today. Check it out!

      • Thanks to the human and you for your uplifting thoughts. My wife, Karen and I are powned by two kitties, William and Catherine a.k.a. Sir William of Lounge, Sir Lounge a Lot and the notorious Sir William at Large. I think William is kind of like the kitty version of Harry Houdini, the escape artist. If you give William the opportunity he will go out on the roof of our home in northern, Ontario in the amll towwn of Englehart, population 1,521. The other name for Catherine is Priness Catherine of Chaos, Calamity Catherine and Countess Catherine.

As long as us hoomans understand they own everything there are no problems.

William and Cetherine have their ways of begging and pleading for our attention. it escalates in accordance with how little or how much we are paying attention to them. What they do to get our attention goes something like this.

        1) The plaintive meow
        2) The how could you be so cruel not to respond to my plaintive meow complaining meow
        3) the head butt from Catherine; the please sir I want more cuddles touch of the paw from William
4)Okay, you’re both not obviously paying attention, so now we mean business. We’re going to jump up where you are sitting in your comfortable lazy boy recliners and put our faces in your face.
5)If steps 1 through 4 don’t work, it’s time to have a Catherine and William re-strategizing brainstorming session.
6)Okay, hoomans, you just don’t get the message so William is going to go into his poor woe is me I’m so unloved forlorn look and I, Your Royal Highness, Catherine of Englehart, will punish you with my forever frown.
        7) If steps 1 to 6 fail to yield the appropriate level of our attention, it’s time to get serious and appeal to the Kitty Senate, who will get to their complaint at their convenience. After all, they are kitties too. They have a rep. to maintain.

Thanks so much for following my blog. Please feel free to reblog any of my pieces at:

Sardines, milkshakes and kitty treats to you, human!

    • I couldn’t agree more. I want to thank you and with two open hands when it is ready I will receive with a grateful heart the book you are working on. Do you have a publsher? I would be willing to put your pieces on a professional career networking site I’m a member of called Linkedin, and even comment on my impressions of you as a woman of God and as a fellow blogger. Who knows? Someone reading your pieces may want to give you an opportunity.

You are a writer. I’ve seen some of your work and when time allows, I will be reading all of it. I as a trained writer and journalist tell you in the deepest sincerity that you are a gifted writer.

The way you wrote about your brother, Isaac, reached me, connected with me. I have a learning challenge called dyspraxia. It means there are short circuits in my brain, affecting my ability to process information. This is why I even write down summaries of what I will say in phone conversations.

The condition like all of the challenges to my health God has allowed for His Kingdom purposes, is very rare. It occurred as a minimal form of brain damage because my mom was over 36 hours in labour with me.

Yet, the dyspraxia has helped me to develop the ability to summarize huge amounts of information into two page executive summaries. In fact, I have been working on helping a fellow brother in Christ in Ghana to develop a business plan with an executive summary wherein he will give the mission statement for a combination of a hospital and a university in one building. This is an ingenious idea. We are thinking of calling it the Ghana University and Mission Hospital.

My contact wants my wife, Karen and I to move to Ghana in two years, when he hopes to have both the hospital and university funded. If such a thing was to happen I would likely be a a university and hospital chaplain and theology professor. Karen would be engaged in a counseling ministry as Director for Spiritual Formation at the university. She also wants to study to get her Master of Divinity degree through the university of Toronto. Please keep this important missions work in your prayers, that if God wants us involved, He will open the doors.

I’m also working on two books. They are: 1) “Prayer Poems from Gethsemane” and 2)”God’s Miracles For Him.” The link for the synopsis for it is below.

Please also pray that a possible job as a newspaper correspondent would happen if it’s the Lord’s will. I have an idea of wiring a local column called “Kevin’s Community Buzz”, which would be stories about the heartbeat of northern Ontario communities, exploring what’s on their minds in the coffee shops. I might if accepted even be a societal issues correspondent.

There is one of my journalism contacts on Linkedin.com, who is approaching people she knows about any journalism or editorial positions.

I already have some invitations as a speaker at a few churches in Toronto. Please pray for the Lord to expand the network of these opportunities as a guest preacher, worship leader, singer, songwriter, motivational speaker or community organizer.

You should seriously pray about training further to be a Christian writer. You have the gift. I would be willing to help you however I can to hone and shape it, to the glory and honour of God.

If you are interested in exploring this further, please let me know.

I have given you a lot to think and pray over. I prayerfully await your response.

Let us pray together as we work for our Lord in His vineyard.

The peace, love and joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be wiith you, Isaac and your family.

      • Your first couple of sentences already had me excited. Most of my writings in the past were very negative and rather emotional. It’s only the past few years and particularly this year that I realized my potential in writing, because I’ve discovered a more positive side of me that I believe is more worthy of attention. And no, unfortunately I don’t have a publisher. It really is flattering with those impressions you’ve made about me. Thank you! And especially that being said by a writer and journalist, it means a lot!

You know I’ve never been diagnosed, but I might have dyspraxia as well. I can relate so much to the fact that you have to write down summaries of what you will say in phone conversations! Haha I thought I was the only person who did that! God is so great. With the things that He provides us, many are blessings in disguise. It’s really important to ask Him to keep our eyes open to them!

A few years ago, I dreamt about writing a book, somewhere along the lines of motivational, empowering, or even for Christian children upbringing, such as short stories or poems. I very much welcome your help and am grateful and open for any that you can offer me. I will be adding you as one of of my e-mail contacts. 🙂

I see you have many opportunities at hand. I pray that if it is in His will for you and your wife to move to Ghana, that God will bless both of you and guide both of you with the skills and talents at hand for this very possible mission. I pray that God uses you in every way He can in any part of the world for that matter, and that He keeps blessing you and your loved ones, and more so, that He uses you to give Him all the glory. God would certainly not love us if He didn’t create us to have incredible gifts, and it depends on the desires of our hearts to use them as fitting for the Kingdom. Only then can we see blessings abound, and only then can we see ourselves as blessings to others. Amen.

Thank you for being a blessing to me, Kevin. May the Lord bless you exceedingly!

        By His grace, Sheela
