We Need You More Than Ever

God of all comfort, dying souls need to feel Your love today. They have been attacked in their spirits, and beaten down by life. The drug addict, the abused, the prostitute, the  tycoon, souls struggling to survive on welfare and disability, and the starving children, men, and women throughout our world; they all need to be lifted out of their dungeon of hopelessness and despair. Our world needs You, Lord, more than ever. Those living in poverty of mind, body and spirit need a reason to go on. They need their political leaders, community and neighbours to reach out to them. Father, they need to have Your hope. Oh, how we all need to feel and know Your love even when we think that we do not!

Lord, hear the suffering, the lonely and dejected as they call out to You. They need to know You hear them. We  need to be sensitive to their deep inner torture. Melt our hearts with Your burning love. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation. Let us take time to reflect on that moment when You reached into our hearts and called us to be saved from our sins, and the moment we asked You to come into our hearts.

Give us a love for others that knows no bounds. Let our lives be spent in loving You and loving our neighbours as You would have us love them. Help us to lift up a troubled soul,  mend a wounded heart, and bring comfort to those who feel all alone and unwanted.

Put a joy within us that will carry us through the times that try the most faithful soul. Help us to live each day as a divine and precious gift. Let us thank You for our lives. Help us take time to smell a flower, listen to the chirping of a robin and feel the wind brush our cheek. Revive our longing spirits that are in such desperate need to be loved, understood and accepted.

Lord, we can’t make it through this life without You. Yes, Lord, we need You more than ever. We need You now. Hear and answer the prayers of all who seek You each day.

Amen.

About osborne2029

I enjoy spending time with people just having a coffee or talking about life, philosophy, religion, politics or sharing a favorite joke or story. We learn from one another as we interact and share our joys, challenges and even our times of sadness. I enjoy reading, writing, singing and sharing in the blessing of community whether that is one on one or in groups. I'm married and am powned by two kitties named Sir William of Lounge a.k.a. Sir Lounge a Lot and Princess Catherine of Chaos a.k.a. Her Royal Highness Catherine of Englehart. I m in an M.A.-Ph.D program with St. James the Elder Theological Seminary to train to become a psychotherapist and priest. Let us pray for and reach out to each other with kindness, love and an embracing compassion. We can working together be servants with two open hands to those in need so that hate, indifference and inequality would lose and love will win. The peace and abounding joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

    • Thanks for the “And Amen.”

You offer thought-provoking perspectives about life and society on your blog with a strong focus on scriptural application. Very well done piece on zombies in the movies. So much of our TV programs today have dark themes. Even Turner Classic Movies is playing the movie “Divorce American Style.” How about having a movie produced called “Marriage – God’s Way”? Somehow, with how humanism is the norm of our postmodern world and how you can have some of God and do your own thing to, a movie focused on keeping marriages together wouldn’t get top box office profits. What does that say about our society?

Keep up the insightful writing! It is a much-needed blog in our post modernist society.

      God’s richest blessings!

      Kevin

      • Thanks for your comments, Kevin! We may be voices in the wilderness…but we know that sharing God’s love and truth is part of our calling. Keep praying for clear communicator’s of the Faith to be active in all forms of our current media! Blessings to you! ~Laura

      • You’re welcome, Laura. I will pray for clear communicators of the faith to be involved in all forms of media. Let us also pray for more truth tellers of the news as opposed to the journalism of sensationalism. For example, how many times and from how many angles do we need to see the collpase of the twin towers of 911? This displayed the worst of what journalism has come to be.

Journalism that seeks to deal with societal issues such as poverty shows the best of what the media can be. As a journalist, graduate theological student and social advocate, I pray I will always speak the truth even if that means people will vehemently oppose me. We all in our own way are called to be communicators of the truth, even if that is done with ministry over a cup of coffee.

        Have a Son-filled week!

        Kevin

      • Thank you! God’s blessings to you!

  1. I need Him today Kevin. I need his comfort right now. people around suffers and there’s is little I could do for them.

    • Marmar, I am praying right now for God to bring comfort to you. It is when we feel helpless to right all the wrongs of this world, that our Lord can use us the most. In our fallen world we won’t fix everything, but in God’s economy to help reach out and change one life, who will change another, who will change another life, that’s something very powerful.

Marmar, just think that there are over 12,000 people all around the world who follow your blog. Just think for a moment if each of those people helped change only one life, who changed another life, that would be over 24,000 lives changed. That’e enough people for a whole small city in Canada. That’s a lot of people. Add that to the over 12,000 lives you are already touching and that’s over 36,000 lives you’ve touched because of God working in you.

The reality is that most of us are used by our Lord to change more than one life, so let’s say 12,000 people following your blog help change five lives, and those people in turn change five lives, that’s 60,000 plus 60,000, that’s now 120,000 lives that have been changed.

So, brother, God is using you to be both a community and a world changer.

I believe this blog is growing because God’s hand is upon it. People are thinking about the thoughts we share, really thinking. You are being faithful. God will do the rest.

Will we solve the problems of poverty and the ills of society, no. The problems are too entrenched in a world where there are those who need to learn the value of giving, and not hoarding what they have.

The Enemy wants us to feel helpless and ineffectual. The forces of darkness would love nothing more than to shut us down. But this is when we must stand firm in our resolve to be Christ’s ambassadors of light and hope.

We need to pray and then pray some more as we seek God’s wisdom and guidance.

We won’t win every battle, but heh, we’re in there slugging. And in the final analysis, that’s all God wants from any one of us.

I hope these words even in some small way have helped to inspire you to keep fighting. Marmar, we’re in the corner right with you, praying for you and fighting alongside you.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

      Kevin
