In really knowing who Christ is as He taught us about what real love means, we learn how to love well.
He wasn’t born to a wealthy family, but he was the richest man in the world.
He didn’t take courses in leadership, but many looked up to him.
He wasn’t considered to be handsome, but people were drawn to him.
He spoke of love to a world full of hate.
He taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
He was not into being part of the crowd and yet crowds were riveted by every word he spoke.
He came to bring light to a world filled with darkness.
He was laughed at, scorned, beaten, rejected and abused. Not once did he seek vengeance.
He gave his life that we would no longer live in death.
He suffered insult upon insult. Not once did he raise his fist in anger.
He is the forgiveness we all seek when we are lost in our pain.
He became darkness that we might become light.
He was abandoned by his own father, so that his father would never have to abandon us.
I’m sure you guessed long before now I’m talking about Christ.
On Good Friday as we remember Christ’s death let us reflect on how well He lived His life, so we could live. Let us honour His life by living well.
How can we live well? Follow Christ’s example. He gave of himself in selfless devotion to others. He healed the sick, made the lame to walk and helped the physically and spiritually blind to see this truth. When we stop thinking of ourselves and give to others, we create a power stronger than any weapon the world has ever devised. We send out the power of love.
Love is what will transform our world. Love is what causes us to give up our right to be right and embraces our privilege to be Christ’s extended arms of love for all.
Love is what hurting lives and our suffering world needs now! God doesn’t care one bit about how much wealth you have. What our Lord really is far more concerned about is the richness in your heart.
When we die and are asked by our Lord to give an account of our life He will ask all of us,”Did you love well?”
What will be your answer to that question?
