The cat teaches the dog the value of mentoring:)

I dedicate this poem to all the awesome mentors in my life. Some are on permanent assignment in Heaven while others are still here. It is a blessing to know you. You are amazing! Thank you for helping in the shaping of who I am and am becoming,  as I seek to grow closer to my Lord and His calling on my life.

Send an email to or call one of your mentors today. Give them the gift of your time and thankful heart for helping shape who you are.

Thank you Mentors

You are there to help show us how we can be a better me

Our gifts and talents to see

You are people of vision

Who help us in times of indecision

You are there to show us the right way when we get it so wrong

Guide us that when we are willing to show where we are weak

Then are we made strong

Leading us to learn what we need to know

Helping us to grow

In that smile

That thank you for a job well done

You show us life is not about wealth and fame

It’s not about playing the power game

It’s about having a light inside you darkness will never understand

It’s about holding a person”s hand

Showing them the way that leads to hope

The hope that is found in Christ the Light

The Love that is with us in the darkness of night

Thanks for being there

For your heart that does truly care

Thanks for teaching us to be the best me we can be

For drawing out of us what God has put there

Honing and shaping us as you lead us to share

The beauty of soul that is there

Whether we are in city near or country afar

This one thing we want to say

We hope we will be as supportive as you

That it would be said of us

We were mentors just like you

Showing others the way to grow

And helping others see

Their God-shaped destiny

About Dr. Kevin Osborne B.A., B.Th., M.A., M.Div., Psy.D., Th.D. (Cand.)

I enjoy spending time with people just having a coffee or talking about life, philosophy, religion, politics or sharing a favorite joke or story. We learn from one another as we interact and share our joys, challenges and even our times of sadness. I enjoy reading, writing, singing and sharing in the blessing of community whether that is one on one or in groups. I'm married and am powned by two kitties named Sir William of Lounge a.k.a. Sir Lounge a Lot and Princess Catherine of Chaos a.k.a. Her Royal Highness Catherine of Englehart. Two years ago I completed my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) through St. James the Elder University. On Sept. 26th 2020, I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Canadian Christian Theological Seminary. These journeys were started over 20 years ago. In 1997 I received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Canada Christian College & Graduate School. Between working and studying it took 13 years to finish it. Let us pray for and reach out to each other with kindness, love and an embracing compassion. We can working together be servants with two open hands to those in need so that hate, indifference and inequality would lose and love will win. The peace and abounding joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

  1. Thanks, Tony, for that encouraging thought. I noticed that you are now following my blog. I pray the thoughts I share will bring light, comfort and even greater joy into your life. It is God’s ministry of the heart to help people reach the stars of their potential with their Lord. I seek to inspire, encourage, challenge and uplift people in their life.

The first person I challenge in writing any piece is me. I often find myself breathing prayers like these. Lord, help me to convey Your Truth in the way that will reach all the souls you want it to. Father, grow in me a greater spirit of forgiveness for those who have misjudged me, who have said hurtful and cutting things to me. God of all comfort, let the words I write help mend broken hearts. Father, I’m really stuck today about what to write. Help me to write the piece You want, not the one I desire. Loving Heavenly Father, take away any hate, any anger in my spirit, so I can speak Your Truth in love. Father, help me to really know You and walk with You in a journey of love, trust and obedience. Give me a continual teachable spirit that never feels I have learned all I need to and understands how much yet I need to learn. Take away the imperfections in my character, so I will be more and more like Jesus and less and less like myself.

Tony, the Lord bless and keep you. The Lord make the face of His countenance to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord grant you His peace now and forevermore. Amen.
