Hate the sin but love the sinner

A friend of sinners – that is Jesus. He is known for visiting the sinners and dining with them. He did not allow the greediness of Zaccheus stop Him from giving Zaccheus the love needed. He did not let the impurities of the woman caught in adultery hinder Him from releasing forgiveness. He did not make the mistakes of His disciples held Him back from getting closer to them. Does it mean He is ok with sins? Of course not! He hates sins but He let His kindness brings the sinners to repentance (Romans 2:4). He chooses love because He is love.

I think this one of Jesus’ traits that we find it so hard to imitate. When someone wronged us, we sometimes define the person for what she/he did. We easily blurt out, ”I hate him/her!” though sometimes we don’t actually mean it; we let our emotions…
