Burning Love
Image from crosscards.com
Father, burning love give to me
Compassion for all the poor I see
Those who don’t have enough food to eat
Those without shoes for their feet
People without clothes to wear
People who think we do not care
Those without the medicines they need
Many who cannot read
Those who cannot see, walk, talk, hear or speak
Afraid they will be judged by some as being weak
Help me to show them they are strong
To society does each one belong
Lonely souls living out in the cold, cruel street
Dying by degrees with each heartbeat
Children digging through garbage for rotting meat
Those drowning in despair
Thinking no one for them is there
Father, why is there such greed when so many are in need?
Why are there people who cling to the things they own
when many have not?
What can I do to help ease the suffering?
How can I be there for the hurting and abused?
How can I hear the pain of those who feel used?
What can I do to help the prostitute?
The many who are destitute?
Mothers seeing their children dying of malnutrition?
How did our world get into such a shameful condition?
I can’t change the world, but I can help all You call me to
All I and any of us can offer is love given expecting nothing in return
Burning love flowing from within us for everyone we see
Outstretched compassion to suffering humanity
Let Your love for others grow within
That we would feel Your light glow in us
We would share with all we know the fire of Your love is there
if we would call out to You
Asking for a teachable spirit
A listening ear
A caring heart
To others the message of Your healing love we would impart
