Father, comfort the wounded in Nice, France and everywhere
Father, we reach out to families who have lost loved ones and the injured in Nice, France and everywhere terrorism strikes. We are left in shock by this tragedy. Our human minds cannot fully grasp why there is such rampant inhumanity. We do know though, evil exists where people refuse to let go of their hate. We weep for those who have been murdered with such callous precision. We pray the injured will fully recover. We understand while their physical wounds can heal, the emotional ones often linger tormenting them.
Give us the compassion the injured and their families will need. Grant us the wisdom how we can individually and as a global community, help best in their recovery. Bring a team of trauma counselors together, who will use their skills and training in the inner healing of the wounded and their families.
Heal us, oh God, as we mourn.
There will come a time for those responsible for all acts of terrorism to be brought to justice, but now is the time for grieving, for our inner healing.
Comfort your wounded people. Give us the strength and heart to continue to love in a world filled with far too much hate.
Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. We are starting You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Creatures Great and Small. Kevin likes doing impressions. He tells children’s stories using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy.
