My Sweet Rose

This poem is dedicated to God, my wife, Karen, and all marriages. Listen to and respond to the love language of your spouse. Is it affection? Then, give it freely. Is it a gift that says you care without spending a lot of money. Give it. Is it your time? Offer it with an open heart.

There is a sweet Rose I know

She has been there through so much

Offers me love that comes deep within

Has been with me through ten intubations

Too many ER visits to count

Has never given up on me

Has sat on cold ER chairs praying I’d be alive in the morning

Rejoiced with me when my extremely rare auto immune condition

mastocytosis was diagnosed

Celebrated the relief of it being found two years ago

Been with me through the really tough times

My journey to wellness

Never once has wavered in her love

Never once listened to the many who said,

“You need to dump Kevin. He’s nothing but a burden to you.”

My darling, you will always be my sweet Rose

A woman of rare beauty, keen intelligence, creative, witty

Born to be a counsellor

My God-given bride

My shield mate

A kindred spirit

My constant companion

A fellow missionary of the heart

Darling, I’m such a blessed man you love me

Your caresses

Times holding me when my legs are too shaky to stand

A hug

A kiss

Burrowing into my spirit

That place reserved just for me

Being with me through the tough and joyful times

Putting a daily smile on my face

Laughter in my heart

Knowing that whatever we go through we do it together

Giving love from God

Receiving love from our Father

I pray through this poem others will be inspired

Motivated to offer their spouse the love language they need

Keep the fire of their marriages glowing

A witness to others what a loving marriage looks like

Father, hear this prayer that comes deep from my heart

Husbands and wives in their marriages would never from this truth depart

Seeing the the power of Your love when

You are at the center of their marriages

Oh, my sweet Rose, this my prayer would be

Others would see the love that shines from me

For God

For Christ

For you

For all to see

Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. Kevin is studying to become a chaplain and professor of Psychology specializing in Pastoral Theology. We have started You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Things Bright and Beautiful. Kevin likes doing impressions. He tells children’s stories and helps others with their problems using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy, who is a therapy bear. He is a partner with us in our counselling practice. We are available to assist with worship and preaching to give busy pastors and ministers a much-needed break. We offer in-office, and phone counselling to anyone in the world.

Sir Lounge a Lot and Princess Catherine of Chaos a.k.a. Her Royal Highness Catherine of Englehart. I m in an M.A.-Ph.D program with St. James the Elder Theological Seminary to train to become a psychotherapist and priest. Let us pray for and reach out to each other with kindness, love and an embracing compassion. We can working together be servants with two open hands to those in need so that hate, indifference and inequality would lose and love will win. The peace and abounding joy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

My darling, where else wold I go? It is you who knows me so well and loves me anyways. It is you who empowers me. It is you who loves me with a strength and faithfulness no other man has ever offered. It is in your arms where I find refuge and protection. It is you to whom God gave me in marriage. He created me for you and you for me before the beginning of the world. “My beloved is mine and I am his; he browses among the lilies” Song of Solomon 2:16 There is no man in the world who can compare to you. “Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.” Song of Solomon 2:3 I had a list of what I hoped for in my husband when I was young. God heard it and smiled. He gave me more than what was on my list; He gave me you.

Please let others know about us. We are here to listen and help where we can.

      God’s richest blessings!
