Only Your Love can Change a Life
Father, put Your love in our hearts for others. Give us eyes to see the suffering around us. Grant us the compassion to relieve it wherever we can. Show us those who need our help. Give us the willingness to respond to the needs around us. Put Your hope in us. Show us how we can share our belief in a brighter tomorrow to others, in order for them to feel that hope for themselves.
The darkness cannot win over us if we continue to believe You will guide us into helping others see how their past need not be their present or future.
When we look at the state of our world with all those saying there is no hope for us, we can so easily get immersed in the philosophy of why bother to care. That is when we need to love more – to hold the hand of that person consumed with fear.
Father, as we enter into the Christmas season let us think this: What can I do today to bring light into the darkness of someone’s life? Then, let us to do it with an abounding joy in our hearts, that You have used us to touch the life of someone else. Is your neighbor without a job? If you can give him one, or give him leads as to where he could find work, I encourage you to do it. Be a character reference. Phone your contacts and give your neighbor an introduction to your neighbor. Be a mentor to your neighbor or anyone God calls you to guide. That encouraging word from you to some of your contacts could make the difference that gets someone a job. You could end up inspiring those you help to keep pressing on with that job search , which leads to them getting work.
Lord, we come with two open hands seeking Your will. Hear us as we call out to You.
Father, only Your love can defeat hate. Only Your outstretched compassion will make the difference in people’s lives. Only Your love and hope shining from us will change a person’s life.
Father, with Your love we will change lives, our communities and our world one person at a time.
Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. Kevin is studying to become a chaplain and professor of Psychology specializing in Pastoral Theology. We have started You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Things Bright and Beautiful. Kevin likes doing impressions. He tells children’s stories and helps others with their problems using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy, who is a therapy bear. He is a partner with us in our counselling practice. We are available to assist with worship and preaching to give busy pastors and ministers a much-needed break. We offer in-office, and phone counselling to anyone in the world.
