I wonder what it would have been like to see that first noel, to see that bright and shining star in the east that guided wise men to the place where Jesus lay, surrounded by His mother, Mary, father, Joseph, and shepherds watching their flock by night. Oh, how it must have been such a glorious sight! It must have given the angels such joy to say to the shepherds, “Fear not! Be of good cheer, for to you is born this day in the city of David a saviour for all.” I wonder how many listened that day and throughout Christ’s life to salvation’s beckoning love call?
The babe in swaddling clothes lying in a stable manger the wise men did find. He was the gift to all humankind. The wise men offered their gifts to Jesus of gold, and the essential oils of frankincense and myrrh. I wonder how doing that did in their hearts such hope for a kinder, more loving world did stir.
I pray it fills your heart with joy in this world filled with too much news of terror and daily strife, that in the town of Bethlehem new hope was given for your life.
Jesus brought a message of love to a world filled with too much hate, and too little love. He grew up to tell others we shouldn’t hate. We should love one another. We should treat everyone equally as our brother.
Christ died for us all because it was His Father’s will, ignorance, fear and hatred of His message of love for all. Through His death we can sing the message of His love’s sweet refrain. New life can beat in weary hearts again.
All God asks is that we would come with all our sin, that His spirit of love would dwell within.
In the business of this Christmas season, please take some time to think about that first noel, when hope to many lives was born. May Christ our heavenly King to your life a renewed joy bring. When your life is filled with too much stress, God’s love is with you in all you go through. Let the spirit of that first noel come alive in you. May you see the truth that you can have a brighter today if you let God guide you in every way..
Forgive those who have hurt you in thought, word and deed. Give yourself the gift of being released from all that joy-stealing pain, that a new song of love in your heart would beat again.
When others say there can be no peace upon this earth, encourage them that they have a purpose of great worth. They can change their community and our world by committing to care for just one life. If we all sat down together and shared our ideas of how we can release people from their physical and spiritual poverty, just think of the better communities and world we would see.
Father, thank you for the gift of that first noel. May Your love in our hearts forever dwell.

We have started You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Things Bright and Beautiful. Kevin likes doing impressions. He tells children’s stories and helps others with their problems using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy, who is a therapy bear. He is a partner with us in our counselling practice. We are available to assist with worship and preaching to give busy pastors and ministers a much-needed break. We offer in-office, and phone counselling to anyone in the world.
