My pastoral prayer for you

a pastoral prayer

I pray for a world where all hatred will end

Love will be the daily gift to others we send

We will treat everyone as our sister, our brother

We will lay down the weapons of war

Fight one another no more

I hope for lives given in service of others’ inner healing

That we would be to the suffering our heart not be concealing

Giving them a listening ear

Offering comfort in their fear

A cup of hot coffee given in Christ’s Name

A message of saving love to them we would proclaim

I ask God to bless your life

Be there in times of plenty, times of need

On His Holy Word you would daily feed

It is the book that has a wonderful story filled with redemption

That with God there is from His love no exception

He loves all who would come to Him like a child

No matter how much we feel within defiled

Christ took upon Him the sin of us all

He is mocked, ridiculed, beaten, abandoned and crucified for you and me

That the path of God’s forever love we would see

Christ’s crimson blood from a rugged wooden cross at Calvary did flow

So that there would be freedom from sin’s captivity

Hope for all humanity

I pray that in every breathe you breathe

You would feel God in your heart conceive

Love that for others has no end

Your enemy would become your friend

In the daily stress of deadlines, be here, do this and that

You would take time with God to be still

Allow His peace within you to fill

You would others their stabbing wounds forgive

That Christ’s love would in you always live

Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. We have started You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Creatures Great and SmallKevin likes doing impressions.  He tells children’s stories using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy.
