Help others see the flowers

Henri Motisee flowers for those who wnat so see them

I need to take more time to see the flowers — the beauty, kindness and positivity that is around me and in others. Helen Keller wrote,“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.”

In this hurting world many find it difficult to see the flowers. I was like that — caught within my prison of childhood to adult physical and emotional abuse from my schizophrenic father. I had to learn a difficult word — forgiveness. I took back the vow I made at age 11 that I would find a way to kill my father. Thank God I didn’t do that! It would have ruined my life.

I had to come to that point of letting go of the hate and allow God’s love to come in. I held on to my pain as a badge of honour for far too many years, but there was no honour in doing that. I urge you not to do the same. Then, like Helen Keller I started to see the sun showing me the path of love — of reaching out beyond myself to help others heal from their abuse. I can now see the flowers.

Karen and I started You Can Hope Again Counselling so others can move beyond their inner suffering and begin to see the flowers — the hope we have in Christ.

If Karen and I can help you see those flowers and start them blooming send us a message to You can reach us at (705)316-0725. We will pray with you if you want us to and take the time you need to be truly heard — to feel valued and accepted.  We also do phone counselling with people all around the world.

Let us all do what we can to help others see the flowers.

Kevin and Karen Osborne are Christian pastoral counsellors and psychotherapists. We are starting You Can Hope Again Counselling. Karen enjoys doing cross-stitch while I like writing and singing songs. Karen makes me laugh when she sings the kitty bed-time song saying, “It’s that time. It’s the bestest kitty time of the day!” Kevin enjoys teasing the kitties and making them do kitty dances with music. Their kitty, Catherine, loves it when kitty daddeh sings All Creatures Great and SmallKevin likes doing impressions.  He tells children’s stories using his hand puppet, Dr. Teddy.
