To: My dear rose
Karen, you are the second greatest joy of my life
Next to knowing my Lord
Been with me through times of strife
Seen beyond the disabilities in me
Shown me in trusting God who I can be
I am not these eyes that have times of trouble seeing
I am not the fellow who has trouble walking
I am not merely a person who has trouble keyboarding
I am not the man who forgets so many things
I am not defined by my rare auto immune condition systemic mastocytosis
That is the way many worldly eyes see me
I am not weak because in Christ am I made strong
I am a man who loves you with all of my heart next to God
You have loved me through so many times when I came close to death
Laid your weary head at the bottom of my bed
Cried as tears soaked a hospital pillow
Sat in hard ER chairs
Prayed for me through nine intubations
Prayed for my healing through your doubts and fears
Why do I share these thoughts with the world?
Because I pray they will see the wonderful gift God gave me
When He brought you into my life to see
What a joy it is to know God
To feel His life beat in your heart
To know He loves you
Cares for you deeply
Wants only the best for you
Desires you to worship Him
To give back some of the love He gives you
To trust that no matter what hardship comes God will be with you
That He’ll give you the strength to pull you through
I pray, my darling, God would see
What a beautiful gift you are to me
That I will love Him and you now into eternity
