How are you, neighbor?

Dear neighbor:

I thought I’d drop off this note to let you know I’m thinking of you.

In this uncertain time when the coronavirus has affected so many lives, I’ve been thinking a lot about how good a neighbor I’ve been.

I’ve been fighting so many brush fires in my life, I haven’t taken the time to tell you how thankful I am you’re my neighbor. Thanks for being there when I needed a coffee, and someone to listen.

There isn’t enough really good listening these days. Too many people are way too busy to see the people who need help are right next door.

I watched Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on TV say, “This virus sucks. It really sucks.” He said what we all feel.

He challenged me when he asked, “Are we good neighbors?” I thought about the kind of neighbor I’ve been to you. Sometimes, I was there when you needed me. But other times I wasn’t. I’m sorry about that. I will do my best to be a better friend to you.

CoVid has turned many lives upside down. People have lost their jobs. Loved ones have got sick with it. Family, friends and colleagues are dying.

Life is fragile. None of us knows how long we have to live.

We need to think more about others than ourselves.

We need to be there for others.

Yeh, this virus sucks the big one!

The experts tell us things will get much worse before they get better.

While there’s nothing I can do about that, I want you to know I’m here for you.

Come over for a coffee when you have some time. Let’s talk, play some games, and laugh.

Please call me if you need anything, and I mean that.

Thanks for being such a good neighbor.

I’m glad you’re in my life!

Kevin
