You Asked For It

When you ask God for something, especially not materialistic but something that would build character, expect him to teach you about it, how to get it and how to control it, and not simply hand it to you. Though ministry is fine and serving the Lord is a wonderful thing, in my opinion it is not as fulfilling as having a relationship with Christ. Knowing him intimately, understanding who he is and diving into the deep with him. It is with this mindset that I seek him out more and in doing so, ask him earlier on this week to give me wisdom, “Teach me how to be wise Father.” Was it the best prayer? Despite all the challenges now, I will say it was but oh boy.

From the very morning I prayed such a prayer, the testing began. Though, I have made it thus far, this morning I had to deal with  a little challenge where the flesh, the natural man wanted to jump out of me. Have you ever found yourself dancing between doing something  and not doing something? If done, the flesh would feel accomplished but God won’t and in wanting to please God you begin to dance out of rage. That was me as soon as I saw what I did this morning. Oh but I prayed for wisdom and in the testing is where my victory lies. Will I give up the fight? No I will not because a heart like Gods’ is what I seek after. Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Would Christ jump out himself and displease God? No and so neither will I. Proverbs 11:12 – He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace. The word of God is a guide to a Godly and moral lifestyle. One filled with the characteristic of Jesus Christ. So though my heart is burdened, I lift my hands and say thank you Lord for teaching me to be more like you. Thank you for wisdom. I encourage you to press in and even when you are faced with the challenges when you ask God for something, DO NOT give in because a better you is coming.

  1. Amen, I am encouraged by this! God bless you and thanks for sharing

  2. Yes, dear sister, you said it right. We will have struggles, and we will sometimes need to repent of our attitudes and/or actions that we have when facing those struggles. We are a work in progress, and we must continue on “pressing on towards the high calling”, and “fight the good fight of faith.” It wouldn’t be called a ‘fight’ of faith if there were NOT struggles, now, would it? But, praise God, He is ever faithful, always right there, upholding us, guiding us, directing us and -bless Him – protecting us (from ourselves as well as the circumstances).

Thank you for this great reminder!

  3. I commend you on writing a piece in which you admit that you like all of us stumble on the pathway of being perfected in love. I Samuel 16:7 says, But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for [a]God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (NASB). There is far too much looking at the outward false ways at looking at people. Success theology says you are a failure if you are not wealthy. By that standard most of us would then be considered as worthless until we become wealthy.

You can be the wealthiest person in the world, but without the richness of God’s love in your heart, you are the poorest of the poor.

God cares far more about how we are willing to be taught in the seminary of compassion. Are we willing to let Him teach us through His heart speaking to our heart where we need to grow, His Word speaking to us and His people teaching us what we need to learn to grow into full maturity?

When we are open to all of that we take those steps of faith, being shaped into the people of God, He had in mind when He created us.

I have stumbled and fallen so many times. My Lord has always there with His love.

Sister, be encouraged that you are on His glorious path to becoming in His eyes, one of the wealthiest women in the world.

I offer this video for your journey of being made more into the likeness and character of Christ. It spoke to that wounded child in me, who is overcoming the horrific abuse of his schizo affective father and even learning to forgive him more and more. I pray it speaks to your inner child.

I open you up to the river of God’s richest blessings!

    Kevin
